Usage

Examples

Exporting banks 1, 2 and 3

Importing from csv file

Verify a csv file

Enable backlight using the shell

Export format

The export format is a comma separated values file with header, comments and empty lines to improve readability. Empty channelsare omitted by default, but can be included using the --include-emptyoption. Any 'no' and 'none' values in the CTCSS/DCS, Lockout andPriority columns can be omitted by using the --sparse option.

Import format

The import format is the same as the export format, but forgiving:

  • CTCSS/DCS, Delay, Lockout and Priority values may be left empty,
  • no, false, 0 and may be used interchangeably,
  • yes, true and 1 may be used interchangeably,
  • CTCSS tones may be written as 114.8, 114.8Hz, CTCSS 114.8 Hz, etc,
  • DCS codes may be written as 26, 026, DCS026, DCS 026,
  • lines beginning with a # (comment line) or , (no channel) andthe first line (containing the header) are ignored,
  • additional columns are ignored,
  • frequencies are automatically rounded down to 4 decimal places.

Shell

You can start an interactive shell to send commands to your scanner.See the BC125AT Operation Specification for all available commands.

You can also pipe commands into your scanner. The following example entersprogramming mode, enables the backlight, and then exits programming mode.

The wary reader might have noticed the Operation Specification dictates commandsbe terminated by a carriage return. This application automatically appends thecarriage return to each command it sends to the scanner. There's no need toinclude a carriage return yourself.

Compatibility

This application is compatible with the Uniden Bearcat models BC125AT, UBC125XLTand UBC126AT.

Reviews, etc

  • This is a fantastic scanner for its class, similar in design and function to the BC72XLT, BC92XLT and BC95XLT series of scanners, with a vastly improved set of features and narrow-band support. This is your best buy for a non-digital, non-trunking scanner; Made in 2012. Owner for 1+ years.
  • Critique: Incorrectly includes common U.S. Business Band itinerant frequencies in the FRS/GMRS/MURS service bank without mention in the manual. (Ch28: 'Red Dot' 151.6250 MHz, Ch29: 'Brown Dot' 464.5000 MHz, Ch30: 'Yellow Dot' 464.5500 MHz, Ch31: 'Silver Star' 467.8500 MHz, Ch32: 'Gold Star' 467.8750 MHz, Ch33: 'Red Star' 467.9000 MHz, Ch34: 'Blue Star' 467.9250 MHz)
  • Critique: Adjusting squelch requires several button pushes and knob twists. Adjusting volume requires a button push and knob twist. Wish there were options to configure this. My only real complaint.

Supporting Software

  • BC125AT SS (Uniden Programming Software) (freeware)
  • Scan125 (Now supports UBC126AT) (freeware)
